In 2011, another group of aspiring, young racecar drivers will take their chances at over $50,000 in purse winnings on the road to becoming the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Volkswagen TDI Cup Champion.

Before you begin to travel around the country, race on some of the best road courses in the US and Canada, and compete for your shot at over $50,000 in prize money, and Volkswagen factory driving career support, you have to qualify for the Volkswagen TDI Cup series.
The selection process for the 2011 season of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup will begin this spring with a series of Driver Selection Karting Qualifiers leading up to the Final Driver Selection Event to be held in early 2011. One method of qualifying will be held in conjunction with F1 Outdoors. Driver Selection
Karting Qualifier events will be held to find some of the most talented kart racers from the US, Canada, and Mexico. Registrants of all ability are encouraged to participate. Lack of experience will be taken into consideration when evaluating performance. The top finishers from each Driver Selection Karting Qualifier will be selected to
move on and compete in the Final Driver Selection Event that will determine the starting lineup for the 2011 Volkswagen TDI Cup. The Final Driver Selection Event includes 3 full days with professional driving instructors, autocross, track time, physical fitness, a sponsorship development workshop, marketing and media training, along
with VW brand familiarization. If you are between the ages of 16-26 by January 1st, 2011, and have ever dreamed of becoming a professional racecar driver, here's your chance.
An entry fee of $995 is required at sign up and includes a day of kart qualifying with the VW Jetta TDI Cup driving instructors and hospitality for you and a guest. Drivers chosen to move on to the Final Driver Selection Event will need to pay their season fee by December 10, 2010.
The top karting qualifier chosen to compete for the 2011 Volkswagen TDI Cup Championship at the Final Driver Selection Event will be awarded his/her $45,000 entry for the for 2011 season.
The final round of Driver Selection Event will be held in early 2011.
The Volkswagen TDI Cup is made up of 25 young, aspiring drivers competing in a ten race season. Held on road courses across North America, drivers race 25 identically-prepared Jetta TDI’s powered by Syndiesel B5 biofuel. Running in conjunction with major road racing events, the series was also featured on a
documentary called “Racing under Green” that is available for viewing on Youtube. On top of great exposure for young drivers, the Volkswagen TDI Cup pays out over $50,000 in purse money through the season, and the series champion receives Volkswagen factory career advancement support with a value up to $100,000. All 25 drivers in
the series will also earn their SCCA Pro-Racing license at the end of the season.
